Contacting friends and family

Support from friends and family is key to success. There are plenty of ways they can help you, from donating gifts, to wrapping presents and helping with drop offs. Over the next week is around the right time to start asking for help. It’s close enough to Christmas that people can relate (and buy an extra gift when they’re Christmas shopping) but also enough time for you to plan your donations.

I found social media was the easiest and most successful way of getting support from friends or family. In the message it’s important to share what you are doing and why. Also be prepared for a few questions such as what types of donations are suitable (chocolates, socks, toiletries, scarves/gloves, calendars, and slippers went down very well last year).

Last year a few people wanted to donate money for me to buy a gift on their behalf. I didn’t advertise this offer because at the time I felt it was a little rude however people seem to have appreciated the option this year. However I’ll make sure to send photos of what I’ve bought.

As always, get in touch at Hello@Violetsgift.com if you have any questions or if I can support.
